Biography

Henry is the 3rd child and 3rd son of the 7 children of Peter Adam Mohr and Magdalena Fischer. He was born Heinrich Mohr 19 May 1866 in Hambach, Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. The 1885 passenger lists show Henry came to New York City as a waiter on the SS Indiana (1873) from Glasgow, Scotland, which could mean that he had already been working in the UK.

After 4 years in America his younger sister Anna joined him in New York 1889. Henry married his 3rd cousin Elisabeth Mohr 1891 in New York City and they had 1 daughter, Henrietta Madeline, born early 1892 at 385 Manhattan Avenue in the Morningside Park neighborhood of New York City. Sadly, Henry died at the same residence after he caught typhoid while working as a waiter, just 4 months after the birth of his daughter.
