Biography

Louise was born in in 1874.

Louise (or Lousia) was the wife of Joseph Sabattis (Sabatis) and mother of Mary Sabatis. Husband Joseph was a Native Indian and basket maker. He is possibly a member of The Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians. Their current Chief is Clarissa Sabattis (Pisuni Cihpolakon). Joseph Sabatis has only one "t" on daughter Mary's birth record. Though their last name has "tt" on FAG and on Family Search. I'm researching correct spelling of last name before adding Joseph as spouse.

She passed away in 1964. Louise was laid to rest at Saint Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Oromocto, Sunbury, New Brunswick, Canada.^[1] --- Known Children of Joseph "Joe" Sabattis and Louisa/Louise Mitchell (may be incomplete):

Research notes

Birth year initially given as 1851 on death certificate, making her 103 years at death. Informant was son Levi Sabattis. Later corrected to 1876 (making her 88) with information from St John River Indian Agency. FindAGrave currently has it as 1 Aug 1875. Gravestone says 1861.
