He married Mary MacLean on 29 August 1859, in Restigouche, New Brunswick, Canada. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 2 daughters. He lived in Colborne, Restigouche, New Brunswick, Canada in 1901 and Restigouche, New Brunswick, Canada in 1911. He died on 13 July 1917, in Charlo, Restigouche, New Brunswick, Canada, at the age of 78, and was buried in New Mills, Colborne, Restigouche, New Brunswick, Canada.
