In the 1841 Census Alexander was living with his wife, 4 children, and a Joan Hastie in Dunbar, East Lothian. Alexander had an occupation of Ag Lab.[1]
In the 1851 Census Alexander was living in East Lothian with his wife, 4 children, and again Joan Hastie who is now listed as Mother. Alexander's occupation is listed as Brewer's Servant, daughter Joan is listed as a House Servant, and the other 3 children as Scholars.[15]
In the 1861 Census Alexander was living with his wife, 3 children, and a granddaughter in East Lothian. Alexander's occupation is listed as a Drayman, son Alexander is a Joiner (Ag Implements), and son John J D is a Maltman.[16]
In the 1871 Census Alexander was living with his wife, a granddaughter, and 2 lodgers in the West Barns House in Dunbar, East Lothian. Alexander is working as a Coal Agent.[17]
Research Notes
FamilySearch has an Archbald Miller born to Alexander Miller and Joan Smith 31 May 1835 in Dunbar[18] but this child is not shown on any census records. I looked on FamilySearch, ScotlandsPeople, and Ancestry for a death record thinking perhaps he died before the 1841 census but no record could be found.
I could not find a death record for Alexander either on FamilySearch, ScotlandsPeople, Ancestry, or Find A Grave.
