OBITUARY.
Mr. James Millar..
The news of the death of Mr. James Millar, at Horsham, on Thursday, Sept. 29, was received with the deepest regret in the town. The deceased gentleman occupied the position of Mayor of Horsham on several occasions, and presented the town with a Scotch granite drinking fountain. Born in Scotland 65 years ago, Mr. Millar came to Australia at the age of four in the ship Emily in 1849. He served his time at Mr. J. G. Ramsay's establishment in Ade laide, after which he started in business with Mr. May as agricultural implement manufacturers. The firm of May & Millar prospered, both at Mount Gambier and Horsham, where Mr. Millar took up his abode on leaving the south-east. The deceased had not long returned from his third trip to England, and had lived at Horsham for 30 years.[9]
John Millar married Elizabeth Millar in Dundee Scotland in November 1839[10]
