Because his daughter Ann married Edward Symonds, William's birth date has been recorded in prior Symonds research: "He [William] gave evidence in a Chancery deposition taken at Ilminster in 1704, when he stated that his age was 73 years; therefore he was born in 1631 approximately[1].
William was a miller and yeoman in Dowlish Wake, assuming the leasehold of the local mill and grounds in 1687 and holding it until death[1]. William and Ann had six known children between 1670 and 1689.
William (Sr.) died in 1705 at Dowlish Wake[2]. Ann predeceased him by 14 years,
William's will was processed in Taunton probate court, and lists typical milling equipment. He also bequeathed lifehold land in Cudworth to daughter Anne[1].
