Research notes
Many trees confuse the Mary dtr of Richard & Patience (Pike) Metters with the one marrying Nathanial HAWKE. Both had a father Richard.
One belongs to Richard and Patience (PIKE) METTERS of Bere Ferrers, and married Thomas Courtis aka Metters
The other belongs to Richard & Johanna (possibly BICKEL) METTERS.
This latter Mary died in Cornwall in 1843, and is buried at Gwennap with her husband Nathaniel and son William.
Although the latter Mary did marry in Walkhampton, the 1841 census shows her as born Cornwall, and there is an appropriate baptism in March 1787, Virginstow Cornwall (Virginstow is on the border of Devon and Cornwall.)
