Edward Mercer was born in Kent, England.

Edward Smith Mercer was baptised on 3 April 1818 in Frindsbury, Kent, England, United Kingdom.^[1] His parents were He married Rosalind Agnes Nightingale.^[2][3] He was mentioned in The British Newspaper Archive.^[4] He served in the 94th Regiment in the Turkish contingent in the Crimea with distinction. In 1881, ^[5]

Edward died in 1898.^[6][7]
