Biography

He passed away in 1977. [1]

Research Notes

Only NZ death found under that name died in 1969 yet Omaka Cemetery NZSG records have his burial as 20 April 1977 under that name. Age is stated as being 22 which is likely the reason the death is not yet showing.

The Omaka Cemetery database has his age as 25. A John Desmond McEwan is in the 1972, 1975 and 1978 Marlborough electoral roll - death notification may not have made it prior to printing the 1978 roll. He is a labourer living at 9 Gardiner Rd. No other McEwan's in the electorate. From 1969 the voting age was 20. It was changed to 18 in 1974. For him to be in the roll in 1972 he would have to be born in 1952 or before suggesting the online database age is likely correct. A tree claims he was born 8 Jun 1955 to Desmond and Valma[2].

Another J D McEwan lived in the North Island (Hawkes Bay). Another is in the Hutt roll as an Artist in 1978. Given the Hawkes Bay one died in 1969 it looks as if there were three John Desmond McEwan's.Fowler-8613 04:13, 2 November 2023 (UTC)

Possibly the son of Valma Fay (Hutchison) Paintier (1930-2008)

Hi Leanna, if you have knowledge of him being the son of Valma Fay they can be connected. I have created the profiles that enable you to connect to the tree but have no real knowledge of him being her son. Cheers
