Jessie was born in about 1854 in Barony, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. She was the daughter of Robert McIntyre and Margaret (Steel) McIntyre.^[1]

On 3 April 1881 Jessie was living in Chirnside, Berwickshire.^[1]
