DNA
In Aug 2013 a set of DNA results came in showing Family Finder matches, predicted at 4th cousin level, between descendants of two separate lines of descent from Archibald HENDERSON & Margaret McEWAN's son James, and a DUNCANSON whose list of surnames contained McEWAN, FISHER, FERGUSON, McLAREN and DUNCANSON.
Which gives a great indication that the Mary McEWAN daughter of James in Perthshire and Mary McEWAN married to William DUNCANSON emigrating to Tasmania, are one and the same person.
Paternal relationship confirmed by at least two triangulated groups of descendants one being:
Chr 012 38-53 14.3cMs between Lorna (T087062) and 2nd cousin RH, descendants of Margaret McEwan, with JD, descendant of Mary McEwan.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
For a parent marked as 'confirmed with DNA,' please ensure that DNA matching information for at least two testers is cited under Sources including where the DNA was matched, the amount of shared DNA, and the predicted relationship.
'Confirmed with DNA' should not be set before the necessary DNA confirmation statement has been added to the child's profile.
