Alexander McDonald was born in Jul 1736 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. His parents were Randolph McDonald (~1710 - 1744) and Jane Jennet Stark (1710 - ~1768).[1]

Alexander died in Apr 1812 in Jefferson County, Tennessee, aged about 75. His death date is incorrect on his tombstone. I am about 90% sure, he is not actually buried here, but the stone was put here.[4]

WILL OF ALEXANDER MCDONALD - THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF ALEXANDER McDONALD 19 JUNE 1811 Will Book 2, Page 16-17, Jefferson Co, TN. In the name of God Amen, I, ALEXANDER McDONALD of the county of Jefferson and state of Tennessee, being in health of body and of a sound mind and memory blessed be God , do this nineteenth day of June in the year of our Lord, one thousand and eight hundred and eleven, make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following (that is to say) imprimis, I give and bequeath to my loving wife MARGARET McDONALD, the house in which we dwell together with such part of the plantation round the dwelling house and outhouses as she shall choose. And also two horses and 2 cows and calves to be hers during her life time and I give unto her forever, all the household furniture and all the farming utensils, also eight head of hogs, such as she shall choose to be disposed of as she pleases. Item: I give and bequeath unto my five sons, RANDOLPH McDONALD, JOHN McDONALD, JAMES McDONALD, ALEXANDER McDONALD AND THOMAS McDONALD all my land being two hundred and eighty six acres to be theirs and their heirs forever, allowing to my dear wife as a fore said such parts as she shall chose during her lifetime, if she shall outlive myself - Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter MARGARET McDONALD one Negro girl named SALL to be hers and her heirs forever; also the cattle and mare and colt and two feather beds and furniture that is now in her possession and called hers to be hers and her heirs forever. And my will further is that my daughter MARY WILLIAMS keep what property I have delivered to her as hers; And I further will that my executor herein-after to be named shall sell all my perishable property that I shall be possessed of at my decease that is not mentioned in this my last will and testament and divide the money arising from he same with all he can collect from those indebted to me by bonds and lands, notes or accounts equally amongst my daughters MARY WILLIAMS, and my five grand-children, ALEXANDER McDONALD (son of JOHN McDONALD), ALEXANDER McDONALD (son of ALEXANDER McDONALD), ALEXANDER McDONALD (son of RANDOLPH McDONALD), ALEXANDER McDONALD (son of THOMAS McDONALD,) and ALEXANDER WILLIAMS, after my said executor retraining a sufficient part to fully satisfy him for his trouble and paying all my just debts and expenses and if my dear wife should outlive myself, my further will is that my said executor shall sell all the perishable property that shall then remain of what is herein will ed to her for life only and the money arising from said sale to be equally divided between my daughter MARY WILLIAMS and my five grand-children before above mentioned. And I do appoint my beloved son JOHN McDONALD executor of this my last will and testament, in witness thereof on this the second day of April 1812. I ALEXANDER McDONALD have hereunto set my hand and seal this day and year first above written all interlined before the testator signed it. Alexander served under Capt. Israel Christian`s Company stationed on the frontiers; also, 8th Regiment VA Forces, Col. A. Bowman.[citation needed] Also, according to DAR records, he served under Capt. May, 52nd Dist., Botetourt County Militia.[5]

Alexander McDonald, Sr. is listed as a resident of Jefferson County, Tennessee in 1800.[6]
