It's possible that after the death of John, Annie had very limited support and may have submitted her children to Industrial schools to ensure they were looked after. Her sons Martin and Frank (Francis) gave evidence in the case against certain staff of Stoke Industrial School who were brought up on charges of common assult against residents.[2] Her daughter Jane (Jeanie) won prizes at the St Mary's Orphanage.[3]
Research Notes
Did she marry Esdale Henry Lawrence in 1903[4], having children Lorry Esdale and Frederick Maxwell[5]. She died in 1934[6][7] and is buried in Old Taita Cemetery.[8] A marriage certificate may confirm if this is the right person. McMichael-211 04:58, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
