Hi Sylvia,

It’s time for our annual Ireland Project check-in! Please respond within the next two weeks to let me know:

  • If you are happy with the team you’re on or if you’d like to make a change. It is now required that all members with an Ireland project badge work on at least one of the project’s team(s), so if you’ve not yet signed up please do so in your reply to this check-in.
  • What you think the project is doing well, and what (if any) changes you would like to see us make? Are there any teams you would like to become more active in?
  • Would you be interested in helping to work on an Ireland Project newsletter?
  • Please give us some feedback on the use of google group and discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way for us to ensure you receive project communications? If you would like to join us on either one, just let us know in your response and we will get you signed up.

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within two weeks, we will assume you are no longer interested in participating in the Ireland Project, and your badge will be removed. If you wish to reapply for membership later, we will be happy to have you back. Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Jen Hutton, on behalf of the Ireland Project

Thanks for your addition to the biography for Margaret Henderson. I have seen similar information in some book (I think) about witches in Scotland.

I have edited your addition to fit the WikiTree style a little better. Please have a look and see if it works for you too.

Hi Sylvia;

The Ireland Project (previously the Irish Roots Project) has now changed its structure into Teams. We require everyone with the Ireland Badge to be a member of at least one Team or Sub-Team and our google group.

See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Ireland for details.

The Teams are :-

1 Categories Team
2 Counties Team
3 Managed Profiles Team
4 Membership Team
5 Profile Improvement Team
6 Topics Team
7 Diaspora

Can you let me know if you’d like to stay on in the new project and which team(s) you’d like to join. Please also let me know your e-mail address so that I can get you added to the project’s Google Group or confirm you are already a member of the google group.

Many thanks,

Amy Gilpin Ireland Project Coordinator

Syliva - thanks for your message on the County Donegal sub-project page. My own work largely relates to a neighbouring townland to Taughboyne, Raymoghy. If you want to be added to the sub-project, let me know, or if you need anything else I'll do my best to help. Cheers, Jason

My earliest McClintock ancestor was Alexander McClintock, c. 1585-c1630. His son was another Alexander, 1622-1670, he married Agnes Stenson MacLean, c. 1635-1696. The first Alexander was born at the southern end of Loch Lomond and was definetly in Co. Donegal by 1630 as he is on a Muster Roll. They settled in a house called Trintaugh near St Johnstown, and are buried in Taughboyne Church, Church Hill, St Johnstown.
Hi Sylvia, sorry for the delay in replying to your e-mail.

I’ve added the Irish Roots Project badge to your profile. If you click on the badge it will take you to the full list of our wonderful members. Click on Irish Roots Project will take you to the first page of the project. I've added your good self to the member interest page. Here you can let others know which counties or names you are researching etc.

Thanks for joining the project and good luck with your research.

Hi!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Shirley Dalton, WikiTree Mentor

Sylvia, you are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering.

If you are interested in King Charles II, you might want to look into becoming a member of the [European Aristocrats Project].

Have fun and ask for help if you need it! You might want to check out our Question of the Week for tips on how to grow your tree How many different spellings of your surname have you found and have any helped break down a wall? If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.

See you in the branches –

Shirley

Hello Sylvia, and welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to become a member of WikiTree. Just add a Tag for each family name or place you are researching. Then click the “Post Tags and Volunteer” button. One of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership.

WikiTree is an exciting and growing community and we are really glad you decided to join us.
