Biography

Frederick was born in 1897. He was the son of William McAdoo and Mary Carson.

He passed away in 1960.

MCADOO, Frederick S. and Dorothy (Banister) Frederick Stuart McAdoo was born in 1897 in London, Ontario, sone of Wm. and Mary McAdoo. He grew up on his father's homestead on 12-9-30 and then on their farm north of Maryfield. Fred took his schooling at McNaught School and Moosomin Collegiate and taught school at Rouleau, High View and Mountney, South Dakota where he met and married Dorothy Violet Banister. Dorothy was born at Moosomin, NWT in 1904. She and Fred were married in Regina in 1924. They had five children, Gerald Henry 1925, Frances Mary 1927 Florence Noreen 1932, Eileen Edith 1935, and Verla Isobel 1936. After their marriage Fred taught school at Walpole for two years, Duff for five years, and back to Maryfield when his father passed away in 1932. He taught school and farmed his father's farm for five years, then gave up teaching and farmed until 1954, when he resumed teaching at Hillcrest for two years and then to Amethyst where he taught until his sudden death in 1960. Fred was very active in community affairs. While at Duff, he was active in church work and helped, as volunteer labour, to build their church which opened in 1930. In Maryfield, he was on the Telephone Board, the Co-op Board, School Board (when he was not teaching). He was an active church worker, Sunday School Teacher, and on the Session of St. Andrew's United Church. In 1947 his health deteriorated and he had to rent his farm in 1959. In 1960 he died of a severe stroke.
