James McAdie was living at Tolbooth Church in Edinburgh, and working as a labourer, when he married Catherine Falconer in Edinburgh in 1819. Banns were read on 13 September 1819.[1]
Elizabeth McAdie, daughter of James McAdie and Catherine Falconer, was born on 8 March 1822 and baptised in Watten, Caithness, some time later in 1822.[2] Her parents gave her place of residence as Edinburgh on the parish baptism form.[3] The baptism of Elizabeth in Watten would support the contention that James McAdie came from Watten.
