David McAdie (or Bain), son of George McAdie and Janet Bain, was born on 3 March 1827 and was baptised at Watten, Caithness on 6 October 1828.[1]
The manner in which David's baptism is recorded implies that his was an illegitimate birth. David's baptism record states that he was born in Toftingall, or potentially living there at the time of his baptism. The baptism record also states that his father's name was "George McAdie Junior".[2] This means the most likely candidate for George's father is this man, George McAdie. George McAdie is recorded as living in Toftinghall. Around the time of David's birth, this George McAdie married Catherine Sinclair. Further research is needed (eg kirk session records??) to confirm whether this man was in fact David's father.
What happened to David?
