Donald McAdie is a member of Clan Fergusson.
Donald "Mackadie", son of James Mackadie and Christan Barnetson, was baptised in Watten, Caithness, on 12 April 1818.[1] Place of Residence at the time of birth was South Dunn and the witnesses to the baptism were Alexander McAdie of North Dunn and Donald [Swanson?] of South Dunn.[2]
In 1851, Donald was living with his parents and siblings on their 30 acre farm in Toftingale, near Watten, in Caithness. His trade was stated to be "farmer's son".[3]
Research Notes
There is a five year discrepancy between the date of Donald's baptism and the birth year of 1813 on the 1851 Scotland Census transcription. It is possible that "1813" was a typo given that his parents married in Bower in October 1817.
