Johann Martin, Jr., married in Pennsylvania Christina Margaretha, a daughter of Adam and Catharine Maurer. She was born November 9, 1745, baptized December 10, 1745 at the Jordan Church, Whitehall Township and confirmed at Jerusalem Church, West ern Salisbury Township in 1760. Her father Adam Maurer is listed among the passengers of the ship LOYAL JUDITH, 32 years, on November 25, 1740, as on that date he subscribed to the "Qualifications or Oaths to the government before the governor, the Honorable George Thomas, Esq." In the baptismal records of Schlosser's Reformed Church, North Whitehall Township are listed the children of Martin and Christina Maurer Harter: Maria Catherina, born June 23, 1771, married Freder- ickHandwerk, later moved to Fairfield County, Ohio; Maria Gertraut, born April 23. 1775, married first Philip Fenstermacher and later Michael Weiss ; Johann Michael, born August 14, 1776, married first Maria Eva Handwerk and later Eva Koch, resided in Heidelberg Township; Maria Elisabeth, born August 17, 1778, married August .30, 1796 George Fenstermacher in Heidelberg Township; Martin, born December 4, 1786, married Catherine Bittenbender and lived in Nescopeck Township; Anna Maria, born May 10, 1783, married Jacob Bittenbender (see Bittenbender). The Lutheran records of Heidelberg Church lists a son, Jacob, born May 19, 1791. He married Rachel Hess and lived in both Nescopeck and Salem Townships.
