Margaret Ann Mattix was born on October 30, 1810, in Indiana. Margaret's parents are Edward Mattix and Elizabeth Bond. She married David Hinds and they had seven children together. She then married John Campbell Autry and they had 10 children together. She died on March 12, 1861, in Denton, Texas, at the age of 50 from chicken pox. She was buried in the Chinn Chapel Cemetery in Denton County Texas her grave is one of many that are marked only with a large Limestone rock.

David Hinds and Margaret Ann (Mattix) Hinds were married on February 22, 1827, in Lawrence Co, Arkansas. They had seven children together before his death in 1843, while living in Van Buren, Crawford Co, Arkansas.
John C. Autry & Margaret Ann (Mattix) Autry were married on August 19, 1846 in Crawford County, Arkansas. They had five children together.
