I've been connecting Joseph and Catherina's children's memorials to theirs on Find a Grave. I haven't yet found daughter Mary Matter (1837-1881), probably married but unknown. Their son Henry married my 2nd grandaunt Mary Anna Ferguson.
as far as I can tell he is cousin to John Michael his parents are John George Matter and Anna Romberger
When Joseph Matter was born on May 16, 1797, his father, John, was 26 and his mother, Anna, was 20. He married Susanna Ritzman in 1814. He then married Catharina "Katie" Schupp Shoop and they had 10 children together. He died in 1842 in Dauphin, Pennsylvania, at the age of 45.
