Agnes was born in 1781. She was the daughter of David Mathers. She passed away in 1853.
In the 1821 Census of Ireland, Mary was recorded with her husband and children: - Ards Barony parish Newtownards town No 509. Isaac Arnold, age 34 surgeon and farmer of 13 acres, Agnes 36 (sic)wife, David 10, Mary Elizabeth 7, Isaac - Gill 5, James - Mathers 2 his children. Jane Menah 19, John Menah 17 his step-children. Also 2 servants.[1]
James Mathers mentioned his sister Agnes when he wrote his will on 22 Dec 1822: - The farm in Movilla bought from James STITT to my sister Agnes MEATHERS alias ARNOLD for life, then to her children by Dr Isaac ARNOLD.[2]
Agnes's husband Isaac died on 12 Oct 1831 and was buried in Movilla Cemetery, Newtownards, County Down, Ireland.[3]
In the England and Wales Census taken 30 Mar 1851, Agnes Arnold, a widow born in Ireland aged 69, was living at Portland Place, Everton, Liverpool , Lancashire, England. She was living with her son James, a surveyor (sic) born in Ireland aged 32. Also in the household were James' nephew William Cooper, age 18 born Ireland; his niece Agnes Andrews, age 6 born Liverpool; and a footman, a medical student and a servant.[4]
Agnes was living at Rose Vale, Everton, Liverpool when she died of bronchitis at age 72 on 14 Jan 1853. She was buried 17 Jan.[5][6]
The following Death Notice appeared in the Belfast Commercial Chronicle, 19 Jan 1853: - On the 14th last, at the residence of her son, Dr. James Arnold, of Liverpool, Agnes, relict of the late Dr. Arnold, of Newtownards. [7]
