George Mathers has Irish ancestors.

George Armstrong Mathers was born about 1865 in Lucknow, Bruce, Canada West. He was the son of Christopher Mathers and Rachel Graham; both of Ireland. His father had a farm and a large family. Their faith was W. Methodist.

In the 1871 census George (age 5), was living with his father Christopher Mathers (age 45), mother Rachel (age 43), and ten siblings in Kinloss, Huron-Kinloss, Bruce, Ontario, Canada.^[1]

In the 1881 census George (age 15) was living with his father Christopher Mathers (age 56), mother Rachael (age 54) and eight siblings in Kinloss Township, Bruce, Ontario, Canada.^[2]

In 1893 George married Amy Viola Hamilton in Neepawa, Manitoba, Canada.^[3] They had five children:

• Cliffe St John Mathers (abt.1899-1982)
• Carmen (Mathers) Barnsley (1902-1987)

In Neepawa, George was working as a real estate agent, and they had two sons in the 1901 census.^[4] George and his family then moved west to Vancouver, British Columbia.

In the 1911 census George was the married head of household in Vancouver Sub-Districts 19-50, British Columbia, Canada. They had five children, and George worked as a real estate broker.^[5]

George was a Cab Driver.

In 1921 George was 56 yrs. old and living with his family on 13th Ave. West, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. His business was Automobile, taxi service.^[6]

In January 1932 George went to visit his son Cliffe in Wilmington, California, United States. At the time, George was living on 13th Ave. in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and he was retired.^[7]
