Frank Marvin was an Ohioan.

Francis “Frank” Marvin was born on 22 Jun 1895 in Ashtabula, Ohio. He was the son of Benjamin Butler Marvin and Sarah Rhodes. Benjamin was born Mar. 17, 1867, also in Pierpont Twp., Ohio and died April 8, 1925 in Conneaut, Ashtabula, Ohio. Frank's mother was Sarah B. Rhodes Marvin. She was born Dec. 10, 1866 in Ohio and died 1947 in Conneaut, Ashtabula, Ohio.

On Dec. 20, 1892, Frank married Ethel Addie Dalrymple, in Ashtabula, Ohio. Ethel A. Dalrymple was born Oct. 24, 1895 in Monroe Twp., Ashtabula, Ohio. Her father was Burnie Francis Dalrymple who was born Oct. 29, 1868 in Monroe Twp., Ashtabula, Ohio, and died Mar. 6, 1948 in Conneaut, Ashtabula, Ohio. Ethel's mother was Sylvia Viola Rositer, daughter of Civil War Veteran, Daniel Rositer, Jr.; Sylvia was born Oct. 11, 1873 in Conneaut Twp., Erie County, Pennsylvania. Sylvia died there Mar. 2, 1921.

Frank was a truck driver for George Gooding Beer Distributing in West Springfield, Pa. On June 16, 1917, he enlisted as Private First Class in the 145th Infantry, 37th Division during WWI.

Francis Marion Marvin's death came on 18 July 1945 in Willoughby, Lake County, Ohio, when he was in a fatal crash at the New York Central Railroad tracks in that city. Ethel Addie Dalrymple Marvin died in Conneaut, Ohio on Feb. 27, 1988.

Notes

  • In World War I, the 145th Infantry Regiment was drafted into federal service on 5 August 1917. On 25 September 1917 it was reorganized and designated the 145th Infantry Regiment of the 37th Division. In June 1918 the regiment deployed to Europe, where it fought in the Meuse-Argonne, Lorraine, and Ypres-Lys campaigns. During its service in World War I, eighteen of the regiment's officers and soldiers received the Distinguished Service Cross for extraordinary heroism fighting in France and Belgium. The regiment was demobilized over late April 1919 at Camp Sherman, Ohio.
