John Thomas was born in 1876. He was the second son^[1] of John Manson and Jane Reeve. ^[2]

In 1911 he married Frances Sarah Ann Pratley. ^[3]

He passed away 7 August 1956 age 80 at Waimate. "Husband of Frances Sarah Ann Manson, loved father of Jack, Eric, Frank, Peggy (Mrs. Donnelly) and Beatrice (Mrs. Galbrath)". ^[1] He is buried at Waimate Old Cemetery. ^{[4] [5]}
