John Millar Malcolm was born on 28 Sep 1868 in Methven, Scotland, United Kingdom, son of John Malcolm (1842–1930) and Isabella (McLagan) Malcolm (1843–1915).
John died on 1 Sep 1942 in White Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, United States, aged 73.[1] He was buried in Thompson Cemetery, Hillsdale, Pennsylvania.
John married Charlotte Eva (Bostic) Malcolm (born on 20 Mar 1871 in Montgomery Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, United States; daughter of Jacob Meyers (Bostick) Bostic and Charlotte Anne (Notley) Bostic) on 15 Jun 1896 in Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
John Millar Malcolm, prominent retired farmer and a former sheriff of Indiana County, died in his home in White township at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday. Death was attributed to a complication of diseases after a lingering illness. A son of John and Isabella Malcolm, he was born September 28, 1868, in Methven, Scotland and came to the United States with his parents in 1873. He had long been a resident of Indiana County and participated largely in civic and political enterprises. He served as Sheriff for one term, 1925 to 1929. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and Indiana Lodge No. 313, F. & A. M. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Charlotte (Bostic) Malcolm, and these brothers and sisters: Alexander, James and Walter Malcolm, all of Indiana; William Malcolm and Mrs. Maud Strassler, both of Pittsburgh, and Elmer Malcolm of Freeport.
