August 17 1775 Four Independent companies requested "to establish a second independent battalion" recommending Mr. William Malcolm as Major. [4] Page 55

March 6 1776 Major Malcom's Secret Mission for "the dismantling the light-house at Sandy-Hook" [3] page 342

April 30th 1776 Major Malcom of "the second Battalion" Requested updated commissions, to fill the vacancies left by the several officers who had quite the battalion[2]page 98 [3] page 427

May 1st 1776 Major William Malcolm was chosen to represent the Charlotte county.[3] page 449

May 4th 1776 William Duer contests the election of William Malcom as delegate of Charlotte County. [1] page 305

May 10th 1776 is first time William Malcom is referred to as "Colonel". He was stilled called "Major" on May 9th. [3] page 437

May 13th 1776 Col Malcolm requested pay "Colonel Malcom commanding officer of the battalion of minute men of the city and county of New-York, employed by Major-General Putnam, by order under his hand of the twelfth day of April last." [3] page 441

June 5th 1776 "Col. Malcolm moved and was seconded — That the Order of Minutemen in this Colony be abolished. Debates arose thereon and the Question being put it was carried in the affirmative"[2]page 107 [3] page 479.

June 1776 the Continental doubled the quota for Levies from New York from 3750 to 7500 men. The provincial congress decides to raise 1200 of the "New Levies" from the two Battalions of Independent Companies of New York City. Colonel Malcolm is selected to be commander of the 2nd regiment of "New Levies" raised (enlisted) from all of the companies for the 2nd Battalion of Independent Companies of New York City (New York County), two Companies from the 1st Battalion of Independent Companies of New York City and one Company each from Queens and Richmond Counties.(Six months service, General Scott's Brigade)[3]

June 6 1776 William Malcom received his Colonel Commission. [1] page 317

December 3rd 1776, 150 men in Scott's Brigade were willing to continue 14 days under Colonel Malcom. [3] page 734

December 12 1776, the Provincial Congress ordered "Colonels Malcom and Thomas with their regiments, who will be joined by some of the militia of Westchester county and three companies of rangers" to attack Rogers Rangers in Westchester County, under Colonel Malcolm's Command. KiNGTSON, March 8, 1777 "The memorial of William Malcolm on behalf of himself & the other owners of the Brigantine called the Janet" ..." That by order of the Convention she together with her appurtenances was taken and sunk in the line of obstructions opposite Fort Washington." requesting compensation. [1] page 663 [3] page 828

Apr 30, 1777 to May 1779 Colonel MALCOM, commanded "one of the 16 Regts. in the Continental Service, officered by General Washington and not belonging to the Line of any particular State, but credited to N. Y." [2]page 239
