Biography

Joseph MAGGS was born in 1845 in Clutton, Somerset, England^[1]. His parents were James MAGGS and Harriet BANFIELD.

The clipper ship, Ticonderoga was infamous for her "fever ship" voyage in 1852 from Liverpool (England) on 4 August 1852 to Port Phillip, Victoria (Australia) carrying 795 passengers and arriving on 22 December 1852. More than 100 people perished on the voyage^[2]. The MAGGS family on board consisted of
