Biography

Donald McIntyre (49) is on the 1871 census with wife Mary (50) and their children; Mary (22), Matilda (17), Angus (16), John (13), July (12), Francis (10).[1] Also present is his widowed mother Ann (90), and possibly a son from an earlier marriage? Duncan (33). Next door are John McIntyre (39) and John McIntyre (47) both with families of their own. I would assume brothers?

Donald McIntyre (59) is on the 1881 census with wife Mary (61) and their children; Angus (26), John (24), Julia (22) and Francis (21). Duncan (38) is again left until the end which I take to mean he was not of this marriage.[2] Next door is brother John (55) and further a few houses the other John (50).

Duncan McIntyre (52) is on the 1891 census with wife Matilda (36) and their children; Mary Lina (3) and Mary M (1).[3]

Duncan McIntyre (65) is on the 1901 census with wife Matilda (50) and their children; Mary L (12), Mary M (10) and Dan A (8).[4]

Matilda was a widow by 1929 as she (and her son Dan A) signed over the properties at Broad Cove Banks to a Rankin family.[5]
