Hi Di, I approved the merge of Baldwin-2138 with Unknown-187828 yesterday morning.

It looks like Phil Clark is the profile manager of Unknown-187828 though so he will need to approve it on behalf of that profile.

In the absence of any action by Phil to accept or reject it within 1 month it will be automatically approved per https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Matching_and_Merging_FAQ#What_if_you_don.27t_have_permission_to_complete_a_merge.3F

Di, Thanks for attaching that excerpt to James Timmins profile.

Sorry if I was a pain, I was only trying to assist.

Hi!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Shirley Dalton, WikiTree Mentor

Hi Diane, Welcome! I think I have pressed the right buttons, but i very much fear that I am unable to help you any further. I have a small file on Australian Hooleys, a larger file on Hooleys who lived over in Cheshire and Lancashire, including Manchester, and a much better-researched collection on Hooleys who lived and bred this [i.e. Eastern] side of the Pennines [the hills that run down the middle of England about as far as Warwickshire. It was Jasmine Briggs who told me that your William arrived in Australia on August 16th 1876, and that he had come from Manchester.

Can I recommend that you check if one Ray Hulley has anything useful to you on his Hulley website? He is an expert on Cheshire and Lancashire Hulley/Hooley families. Keep in Touch. Best Wishes, David

Welcome Diane,

You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering and sharing.

Have fun and ask for help ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist. You can also join in on the conversation about our question of the week: Do you listen to genealogy podcasts?

If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.

You may want to edit your TAGS to include locations for each surname per TAG as this will allow you to find others searching for the same surnames.

Happy Hunting,

Jess

Hello Diane,

Welcome to WikiTree. By now you should have received an email with helpful links to get you started on adding your family to ours.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree?

When you confirm your email address, you’ll be given an opportunity to volunteer to help document our collective family history. Use the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests.

When you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership.

Happy Hunting,

Jess
