Biography

James was born in 1848 in Tippah Co., Mississippi. He was the son of John Little and Susan Cartwright.^[1] His father died by the time he was age seven. After his mother remarried, to Thomas J. Perkins, he always used the last name Perkins.^[2][3] He married Amanda Mauldin (1854–1936) in 1870.^[4] They farmed in Tippah Co. and had one child, Dovie Lenora Perkins (1872–1952).^[5][6][7][8]

He passed away in 1929, probably in Tippah Co. He and Amanda are buried at New Salem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Walnut, Tippah Co.^[9]
