Thomas Lawson is a son of Randolph Lawson & Susanah Cross, one of the "Falling River Lawson" line as described by Carl Lawson of the Lawson Surname DNA Project [1]
Thomas Lawson married Nancy Jeffers. They lived in Scott County, Tennessee, USA. Thomas Lawson had many children, 14 that I can find sources for, and 3 wives. It would appear that Nancy Jeffers was the mother of all of these children as no new children appear appear for him in the 1870 & 1880 census. In 1870 he is living with Sally (Sarah Beck) whom he married in 1868, and in 1880 he is living with Eliza (Eliza Beck) whom he married in 1875. I do not know the relationship of his 2 Beck wives, but I would bet that Eliza is the daughter or niece of Sarah. Eliza is only 25 in 1880, Thomas is 77, and Sarah is 47 in 1870.
Thomas and Nancy were married in 1822 in Campbell TN[2] and remained there until 1850. The 1850 census shows them in Scott TN, but that was just formed in 1849 from 4 other counties, one of them being Campbell. In 1860 they are in Clinton KY where they remain until death, first for Nancy in 1862, and then for Thomas in 1891 at the age of 90. They spent a few years in Reynold MO after 1850, but were in KY before the 1860 census. The last two children were born there. In 1880, he is living next to his son Lewis.
Thomas Lawson was married three times. With his first wife Nancy Elizabeth Jeffers he had at least 19 children. His second wife was Sarah M. Beck no known children. His 3rd wife was Eliza Jane and they had one daughter. The children for Thomas Lawson & Nancy Jeffers are: Sarah 1823, Andrew Jackson 1827, Elisha 1829, Christina 1831, Lewis 1832, Jeremiah Marr 1836, Elswick 1837, Henry 1838, Peggy Ann 1840, Lucinda 1841, Lakey 1844, Amanda 1848, Elmira & Elivra 1853, twins.
Thomas Lawson (b. 1800 -1810) was head of a household in the 1830 census for Campbell Co., TN. The home included two males under 5 years old and three females. The oldest female was b. 1800 -1810. One girl was under 5 and another was between 5 and 10 years old. Thomas Lawson was listed on the census line next to Randolph Lawson (b. 1760-1770).
On 5 Jun 1871, Thomas Lawson witnessed the pension application of Rev. William Cross (1787 - 1876) in Clinton Co., KY.
Thomas Lawson died in 1891. He was buried in Huckabay Cemetery in Huckabay, Erath County, Texas, USA.[3]
