Biography

Alice Jo Lane was born in 1922. She was the daughter of Emory Lane and Mary Jones. She passed away in 2020.

Alice was a spirited Southern belle with boundless energy and creativity. She grew up on a farm, learned valuable skills during the Depression. She attended Georgia Teachers College (now Georgia Southern University) and taught at Middleground School. She later trained as an X-ray technician at the Medical College of Georgia before being offered a job with Dr. John Ethridge in Valdosta. She later became a dedicated kindergarten teacher for 35 years. Her influence extended to her church community, where she volunteered and cooked for older adults. Alice Jo was a devoted mother and grandmother, known for her excellent cooking and love for live theater.^[1]
