Alexis Landry was born in 1717. He was the son of Antoine Landry and Marie Blanche LeBlanc. When he was 22, Alexis married Marguerite Aucoin, age 22, daughter of Rene Aucoin and Magdeleine Bourg 27 Nov 1739 at Saint Charles des Mines, Grand-Pré, Acadia.[1][2][3]

He married second, Magdeleine Bergeron, daughter of Michel Bergeron and Marie Dugad[sic] 15 Jan 1748 at Beaubassin. Witnessed by Jean Baptiste Benoit and Joseph Landry.[4][5][6]

Alexis lived at Riviere-aux-Canards. By 1752 Alexis and Madeleine were residing in Memramcook with 2 boys and 2 girls. [7] In 1755 they were recorded again on a census in Memramcook, with 4 boys and 2 girls in the household. [8][9] During the Grand Dérangement, the family managed to escape deportation by fleeing to Rivière St Jean and afterward to Canada, Nouvelle-France. [9]

In 1759, Alexis and his family travelled by canoe with several other Acadian families from Saint-Anne-des-Pays-Bas (near present-day Fredericton), up the St John River, to their final destination between Trois-Pistoles and Montmagny. [10]

His family settled at Kamouraska, Québec. He was alive but not present at the marriage of his son Pierre in 1778 (Marie Bergeron had died by then). Neither was he present at the 1775 marriage of his daughter. He was alive and likely present at the 1772 Kamouraska marriage of son Charles (Marguerite was deceased).[11] In most of these records his name Landriville or a variation was used.

He passed away in 1808. His age was given as 97 and no spouse was identified.[12]
