Biography

Although on official records she is recorded as Jane, she was always known in the family as Jeannie and newspaper articles and the gravestone use this name. Her husband's great niece Violet Grieve nee Glendinning, remembers visiting Aunt Jeannie along an almost impassable road to Annat Cottage. The children having to get out of the car to push it in places, but were rewarded with aniseed balls when they reached Annat Cottage

Jane, the daughter and 7th child of John Laidlaw and Isabella Laidlaw, was born or baptised on 9 April 1852 in Ettrick, Selkirkshire, Scotland.^[1]
