The ship. British Queen set sail from Liverpool, England on 9 January 1853 with the KNIGHT family from Somerset, among the assisted immigrant passengers and arrived in Hobson's Bay, Colony of Victoria on 2 May 1853[3][4]. The KNIGHT family consisted of parents, Robert (aged 34, Labourer, Read) and Ann (34, Read & write) and their children, William (9, Read), Frances (6, Read), Walter (5), John (2) and infant, Victoria. (Sadly, Victoria died on the voyage on 16 April 1853). On arrival, father, Robert went to work for John HAWK for 3 months with rations.
He passed away on 7 March 1885 in Spring Hill, Colony of Victoria[5] and was buried at the Spring Hill Cemetery[6].
