Biography

Martin was born about 1735, probably in Virginia.

On 8 Aug 1810 Martin Keller (age about 75) was living in Elizabeth, Ohio, Virginia, United States. His census entry included two males over 45 years of age, and eight enslaved people. Three of his sons had census entries on the same page: David Keller, John Keller, Martin Keller and Adam Keller.[1]

Martin Keller wrote a will on 6 Jul 1812 in Ohio County, Commonwealth of Virginia. Heirs were: wife Margaret Keller, daughters Cathrine Keller and Elizabeth Keller, sons George Keller, John Keller, Adam Keller, Martin Keller, Jacob Keller and David Keller. The will was proved in court at the September Term 1816.[2]

Research Notes

  • Martin Keller’s parents are NOT George Keller and Barbara Anna Hottel Keller [daughter of John Hottel]. This George Keller of Shenandoah, Virginia wrote a will on 13 Jul 1779, which was proved on 28 Mar 1783. The will named these heirs: eldest son George Keller, son-in-law Henry Frevel, John Keller, Elizabeth Keller, son-in-law Matthias Wilkin, Mary Keller, Jacob Keller, Ann Kibler, Henry Keller, daughter Barbara Keller, and beloved wife Barbary Keller. NO MARTIN KELLER was named.[3]
