My father, Harold Francis Secord Jonah, is descended from Pierre Joney (Jonah). I am descended from Roger Williams, who baptized the first members of the 1st Baptist Church in America and, being a free thinker, was not baptized. Williams returned to England to get a Royal Grant for Rhode Island and The Providence Plantations. Samuel Slater, Father of American Manufacturing but “Slater the Traitor” to the British, is an ancestor.
Strangely enough, my mother Jean Leith Wright’s brother Woodley Leith Wright was called Bill. The Leiths in my family tree go back to the first Leith in Scotland.
I am David Woodley Jonah, named for my father's younger brother David and my mother's brother Woodley. I live 1/2 mile west of Detroit, 4 miles north, yes north, of Canada.

Happy tree climbing
