In the 1881 census Margaret (age 66), Retired Lady, was the widowed head of household in Kirk Bampton, Kirkbampton, Cumberland, England with her niece, Mary Jane Watson (32) as a lady's companion and servant, Elizabeth Workman (22).^[4]

Margaret died on 1 May 1896 in Cumberland, England and probate for her estate passed to Mary Jane Watson on 20 September 1905 in Carlisle.^[5]
