Biography

Emma was born in 1868^[1] in Yokefleet, Yorkshire, England, where she lived with her parents, Charles and Ann (née Guy), in 1871.^[2] The family had moved to Garthorpe, Yorkshire, by 1881.^[3]

At the time of the 1891 census, Emma was working as a domestic servant for the Thompson family in Swinefleet, Yorkshire.^[4]

Aged 42, Emma married 72 year-old widower John Brown in November 1910.^[5][6] They lived together at Belby in the parish of Howden at the time of the 1911 census.^[7]
