Joan Jardine was born on 1 November 1920, at Mosman, New South Wales, Australia.[1] She was the daughter of Charles Burgess Jardine (1891-1981) and Doris Antoinette Oliver (1895-1985) and was a great great great granddaughter of convicts George Patfield (Neptune 1790), Mary O'Brien (Bellona 1793), Thomas Anlezark (Perseus 1802) and Ann Starmer (Experiment 1804). Thomas Anlezark became famous as a Trooper in the Vinegar Hill convict uprising of March 1804.
The family later moved to Melbourne, Victoria.
Joan married Scottish-born AIF soldier Alan George Cranston Mason (1916-2001) in 1943 in Victoria. [2]
Aged 79 years, she passed away on 12 August 2000 in Victoria. [3] Joan is buried at Springvale Botanical Cemetery, Springvale, Victoria, Australia.[4]
