William was born in Missouri on 27 November 1859.[1] His parents were Anderson J. and Diana (Younger) James.[2] On 16 December 1880 William married Almeda Austin in Cooke County, Texas.[3] The couple's children included Myrtice, Clarence, Clement, Freddie (Norval), Herman, and Wilma.[4][5] William died in Dallas on 15 December 1934 from injuries sustained when an automobile struck him.[1] He is buried in Grove Hill Memorial Park.[6]
Research Notes
In the 1910 Census, Almeda is listed as widowed, but on William's death certificate he is listed as married. In the 1930 Census William, living with his daughter Wilma, is listed as widowed, although Almeda lived until 1942.
In the 1910 Census there is a Bill James with matching birth information who is a guard at some kind of state institution in McLennan County, Texas. Heritage-577 23:59, 1 December 2019 (UTC)
