Biography

Rebecca (Ireland) Huff was featured in Hill family stories.

Rebecca Jane Ireland, one of the daughters of George Ireland (abt.1821-bef.1881) and Ann (Rogers) Ireland (1821-1901), was born on June 11, 1847 in Murray Township, Northumberland County, Canada West (Ontario). Part of Murray Township became part of the new Brighton Township in 1851-52: Rebecca would live there for the rest of her life.[1] She married farmer Solomon Sanger Huff in Northumberland County around 1866. They and their family, which would include George Henry (1867-1951) and Lillian Anne (1873-1922), would live in Brighton Township until Solomon's death in 1922.[2][3][4][5][6][7] The widowed Rebecca died in Brighton Township on Jan. 29, 1930 of arteriosclerosis aggravated by an accidental "fall down cellar".[8] She was buried on Jan. 31, 1930 in Woods Cemetery.[9]
