Biography

Honor's birth in Curry Mallet was registered to these parents at Langport on 20 April 1845[1]. Langport is 6 miles NE of Curry Mallet, where the family lived in 1851, but without Honor. In 1851, Honor is found living with cousin Honor Ilett Paul nearby in Curry Mallet[2]. Note, the name in the record index is misspelled Hett, making it harder to find.

Honor married Edward Burrows in spring, 1878[3].

Honor was second wife of Edward Burrows. She may have had natural-born son Edward John in 1875, in Ilminster, Somerset (bap. 10 May 1876), but the child was not living with the family in 1881.

Honor and Edward had five children between 1878 and 1887. Edward and first wife Mary had two sons that died young, William and Harry. William may have been the namesake of Edward and Honor’s last son, William Henry Burrows.

In 1881, the family lived in Chard[4], including the three older children from Edward's first marriage to Mary Irish (Edward H., Emma J., and Louisa), and Honor and Edward's first two children (Eda K. and Effie C.). Edward is 50, head of household, born Kentisbeer, Devon. Honor is 36.

In 1891, the family was living on Victoria Road in Chard[5]. The children from Edward's first marriage have moved on, but all five of Honor's children live with the couple.

At the turn of the century, the family still live on Victoria Road, Chard[6]. The three youngest children still live with them.

Honor’s last known residence was Harvey's Almshouse, High Street, Chard. She died early in 1905 at age 61[7].

Ilett is a common name in the Ilminister area.

DNA

  • Autosomal DNA connections are discovered via Ancestry DNA service
  • Note: Ancestry does not reveal chromosome and segment detail. Triangulation can only be partial at Ancestry, by pairwise reports of shared ancestors (all testers demonstrate shared DNA with one another, with no guarantee they are comparing like segments). Here, the paper trails and shared DNA length add compelling support. Unfortunately, none of the matches appears to be on the GEDmatch site, and none has so far responded to messages.
    • A paternal DNA match is found
    • Matching DNA was found between Honor's g-grandson WS and non-Wikitree 4th cousins NH, GH, and WL.
      • The MRCA between WS and the three identified cousins is George Ilett and Martha Bawler.
      • The lineage, Honor to MRCA grandparents: Honor Ilett<-Giles Ilett<-MRCA
      • WS and NH share 37cM of DNA across 3 segments; predicted 4th-6th cousin; actual 4th cousin (1x Removed)
        • The lineage from NH to MRCA is NH<-UNK<-Willard Everett Ilett<-Harry James Ilett<-William Ilett<-George Ilett<-MRCA.
      • WS and GH share 26cM across 2 segments; predicted 4th-6th cousin; actual 4th cousin
        • The lineage from GH to MRCA is GH<-Willard Everett Ilett<-Harry James Ilett<-William Ilett<-George Ilett<-MRCA.
      • WS and WL share 23cM across 2 segments; predicted 4th-6th cousin; actual 4th cousin
        • The lineage from WL to MRCA is WL<-La Jeune Ilett<-Phillip Edward Ilett<-William Ilett<-John Ilett<-MRCA.
  • A maternal auDNA match is found
    • Matching DNA was found between Honour's g-grandson WS, and W's non-Wikitree cousins, SB, AW, and JB. (Several other cousins also match also match Weldon in this lineage).
    • The MRCA between WS and each of these identified cousins is William Long and Susannah Follett. These are Honour's grandparents, and the paths of the descendants pass through her and her siblings Charles and Phillip Daniel.
    • WS and SB share 48 cM of DNA across 4 segments; predicted 4th-6th cousin; actual 3rd cousin (1x removed)
      • The lineage from SB to MRCA is SB<-PRV<-William Ilett<-Charles Ilett<-Charles Ilett<-Elizabeth (Ilett) Long<-Susannah Follett (MRCA)
    • WS and AW share 20 cM across 1 segment; predicted 5th-8th cousin; actual 3rd cousin (1x removed)
      • The lineage from AW to MRCA is AW<-Wendy Tainsh<-Stanley Tainsh<-Gertrude Ilett<-Daniel Ilett<-Elizabeth (Long) Ilett<-Susannah Follett (MRCA).
    • WS and JB share 29 cM across 3 segments; predicted 4th-6th cousin; actual 3rd cousin (1x removed)
      • The lineage from JB to MRCA is JB<-Willard Everett Ilett<-Harry James Ilett<-William Ilett<-John Ilett<-George Ilett<-Honour Symonds<-MRCA.
  • Mitochondrial DNA: Through genetic testing by her g-grandson, Honor has been identified as mtDNA haplogroup U5b1c2b, a western European subclade of haplogroup U5, found in Southern Europe (Portugal and Italy) among mesolithic Western European hunter gatherers (WHG). U5 itself is an ur-European mitochondrial signature, likely comprising the great majority of the female population of Western Europe 40 thousand years ago.

For your DNA confirmation statement: Because the matching test takers are more distantly related than third cousin, you will need to use triangulation. See this part of the DNA confirmation instructions:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:DNA_Confirmation#Are_you_third_cousins_or_closer.3F

I've changed the 'confirmed with DNA' entry to 'confident'. Please add the correct documentation before changing it back to 'confirmed with DNA'. Thanks!
