Biography

Elizabeth was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Elizabeth Harriet Hunter was born on 2 February 1878 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah Territory , daughter of Abraham Hunter (1856–1912) and Harriet Astle (1852–1928).[1][2]

Elizabeth and Alvin Mitchell were married on 25 July 1895 in Salt Lake City.[3][4] Born in Salt Lake City in 1877, Alvin was the son of Zadock Joshua Conrad Mitchell and Louisa Winegar They had three children, two of whom were living in 1900:

  2. Louisa Pearl Mitchell
  3. baby boy Mitchell[5]

In 1900, the family was living in Salt Lake City Ward 3, where Alvin worked as a day laborer.[6]

In April 1901, Elizabeth sued for divorce from Alvin, alledging that "for two years her husband has not provided for her and that he has become a common drunkard." She asked for custody of the children and to resume her maiden name.[7] Her divorce was granted on 11 May 1901 on the ground of desertion.[8]

Elizabeth may have been in the State Mental Hospital in Provo in 1910. It is uncertain whether this census record belongs to her, but so far no other 1910 census records have been found. Her daughters have not yet been located in the 1910 census, either.[9]

She married Leota "Lee" Everets Hall on 12 May 1920 in Mackay, Custer, Idaho.[10] Lee was the son of Gerald Benson Hall and Emma Azora Everets and was born in 1878 in New York. He had a homestead patent for 320 acres in Bingham County, Idaho that had been granted in May 1919.[11]

In 1930, Elizabeth and Lee were living in Antelope, Butte, Idaho. [12]

In 1940, they were living in Mackay Election Precinct, Custer, Idaho. [13]

Elizabeth died on 3 February 1947 in Mackay, Custer, Idaho, aged 69. She was buried in Mount McCaleb Cemetery, Mackay, Custer County, Idaho.[14][15]
