I have been a researcher into family history since 1987 when I visited the parish church of Tockenham, Wiltshire, England, and examined the parish registers to reveal three further generations of the Hunt family (great grandfather, 2 greats and 3 greats grandfather) back to the early nineteenth century. Those registers are now held at the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre, the place to visit if you have a particular interest in Wiltshire genealogy.
There is a wonderful collection of portraits of Thomas Smythe's family, most of which are now owned by the Skinners' Company of the City of London.[1][2][3]
I am always delighted to hear from cousins, however distant, and fellow genealogists.
Quality Dashboard
I have a particular interest in the quality of genealogy, how it can be measured, and how quality data/quality indicators can be used to drive overall quality of the database.

Hi! I've finished updating the profile of Thomas Cressett Esq. (abt.1455-bef.1522), reviewing and correcting the information that was from the Lewis database. I also posted a reply about the Magna Carta Project detaching Mary from Thomas's wife Jane Corbet.
Hi Steve! Thank you for improving the profile of Thomas Baldry (abt.1467-abt.1534). WikiTree says he's a lineal descendant of mine, but after several "Uncertain" relationships. Would you like to take over as PM for the profile? If so, just send me a trusted list request from Baldry-20.
Thank you for improving the profile of Richard Vaughan (abt.1487-). At one point, I was a lineal descendant but I'm not anymore & have removed myself as manager. The profile is now an orphan, if you were interested.
I was looking around at some of my ancestry for another profile and saw the tremendous work you have done with Baskerville profiles like my ancestor Ralph Baskerville, Esq.. Wow! I'm happy to see that you are really diligent in sourcing and an actual order to things... refreshing, actually! I'm a descendant of his only living heir, Jane (Baskerville) Milborne.
So I see that your own ancestry seems to hit a wall with Humphrey Baskerville of London. I have been there seeing a name carried back in time but being unable to connect the later one to a past line. I hope you do eventually solve that mystery and if you do, let me know!
EDIT: We must be closer cousins than I thought, but I don't know how. This is my ancestor, Edward Woodman. Maybe one day our Woodman lines will connect! Kington St Michael, Wiltshire and Corsham, Wiltshire are mere kilometers from each other as you know. Wild!
Moving for the moment from the Montgomerys to the Curzons: The generations of Curzons of Kedleston currently on Wikitree are consistent with the Visitation and other old books. However, your find on the date of marriage of John Curzon and Margaret Montgomery clearly conflicts, as does Margaret's correct place in the Montgomery pedigree. History of Parliament makes John who married Margaret Montgomery (Curzon-21) the same age as John married Joan Bagot (Curzon-2): the simplest explanation I can see is that they are one and the same (first and second marriages). That would make Richard Curzon-20 the same person as Richard Curzon-58. (The Peerage.com omits Curzon-20, but adds another John between Curzon-2 and Curzon-58.) Any thoughts?
About all I can say at the moment is that the John Curzon who married Margaret Montgomery was a son of a John Curzon [Senior]. Sir Hugh Hussey married Joan the widow of John Curzon [Senior], and the lands were described as her dower, and so it seems reasonable to assume that John Curzon [senior] was the man who died in 1405, his widow was Joan, and his son and heir was the john Curzon who was born c 1393 and who married Margaret Montgomery on or before 1411.
Quite possibly John married second Joan Bagot.
HOP suggests John Curzon [Senior] was the son of a Roger Curzon.
I'm trying to find and verify HOP's sources. So far it is looking as if the Visitation has added two duplicate generations (possibly because of the same John marrying twice), and everyone else has followed suit. Without dates, it's not obvious that there is an error.
