Biography
Lawrence D. Hughes , 66, died Aug. 27, 2002, at South Wind Hospice House, Pratt.
He was born Jan. 25, 1936, at Byers, the son of Cecil and Ruth Hensley Hughes.
A Pratt resident since 1974, coming from California, he was a carpenter. He was a member of Byers United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: two sons, David and his wife Char, Mitchell, S.D., and Todd and his wife Cassandra, Cherryvale; three daughters, Debbie Fitzsimmons and her husband Mike, Downey, Calif., Linda Welburn and husband Greg, Fullerton, Calif., and Rebecca Barker and husband John, Paramount, Calif.; two brothers, Jim Frisbie, Pratt, and Don Hughes , Buena Park, Calif.; three sisters, Avola Zimmerman, Mullinville, Eloise Weckerly, Syracuse, and Joann Simmons, Goodland; eight granddaughters; 10 grandsons; and three great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Billie Dean; and a sister, Delores Chance. [1]
