Abel Huckel was born in Grenfell in the Colony of New South Wales, in about 1873. He was the son of William Huckel and Elizabeth Wilson.

Abel was killed in an accident on the 22nd of November 1895, near Iandra, the Huckel family property at Grenfell, in the Colony of New South Wales, when his horse bolted, overturned the dray it was pulling, and kicked him in the head. He was laid to rest in the Cowra Cemetery.[1]
