Heinrich Theodor Holzberger was born in 1809. He married Johanne Henriette Mecke and they had five children together. He then married Johanne Wilhelmine Baumgurtel Orlamunder and they had one son together. He died on February 28, 1875, in Mount Gambier, South Australia, Australia, at the age of 66. [1]
In late 1848 Theodore, aged 40, and his wife Johanne Henriette and five children departed Bremen on board "George Washington", bound for South Australia. Theodore's wife died on 1 Nov 1848 and was buried at sea. His infant son Carl, died on 23 Dec 1848 and was buried at sea. The ship arrived at Port Adelaide in March 1849.

Heinrich, aged 45, widower, married Johanne Wilhelmine Baumgürtel nee Orlamünder, widow, on 18 Oct 1853 at Lobethal, according to the rites of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
In 1859, Theodore left the colony of South Australia. He let the Alma Inn at Lobethal. By the time of his return in February 1865, he had no money and considerable debt. He appeared in the Insolvency Court in Apr 1866. South Australian Register Adelaide, SA Wed 18 Apr 1866 Page 2 [7]
The Alma Inn [originally known as the Lobethal Inn] was offered for sale or lease in Apr 1871. The inn was described as containing 13 rooms, with six acres of land, cottage, gardens. South Australian Register Fri 07 Apr 1871 page 3 [8]
Theodore moved to Mount Gambier, where he passed away in 1875, aged 66. [9]
Theodore was interred at Lake View Cemetery in Mount Gambier. [11]
Following Theodore's death, the lease of premises fronting Commercial-street, comprising butcher's shop, dwelling house and all requisite conveniences for carrying on a butcher's business, were offered for sale by auction on 17 Apr 1875 Border Watch Mount Gambier, SA Wed 14 Apr 1875 Page 2 [12] Theodore's horse, with saddle and bridle, sausage machine, large scales, shop fittings etc. were offered for sale by auction on 15 May 1875.
