    Mr. William Hodge an old colonist, died in Miss Thorn's private hospital, Wattle-street, on Friday evening. The deceased, who was a native of Fifeshire Scotland, arrived in the State in 1853. Subsequently he selected land at Green Hills, near Kyneton, and devoted his attention to the breeding and rearing of draught stock, in which he was very successful. The deceased was well known throughout the greater portion of Victoria as a judge of horses, and for many years was one of the judges in that section at the principal shows in the State. When attending the show at Rochester some two years ago, Mr. Hodge was seriously injured by a horse knocking him down. For the past 12 or 18 months the deceased had been residing with his wife and unmarried daughter at "Woodville," Camp-street, Kangaroo Flat. The deceased had been ill for about six months, and on Sunday last underwent an operation for an internal complaint. The deceased was also well known in the Terricks district, where he had a large selection of land. He loaves a wife and grown-up family of 12—four sons and eight daughters.
    The death of Mr. Hodge was regretfully referred to at the meeting of the Agricultural Society on Saturday. The president (Mr. D. C. Sterry) remarked that the late Mr. Hodge has rendered the society good service as a judge, and had supported it for years as a large exhibitor. They all regretted his demise. He moved that the secretary be instructed to forward a letter of condolence to the widow and family of the late Mr. Hodge. Mr. W. J. Lowndes seconded the motion, which was agreed to.
    The remains of the late Mr. Hodge were removed from Miss Thorn's hospital to the railway station on Saturday morning, and conveyed by the midday (rain to Kyneton, where the interment took place.
